Water only creates corrosion not an instant disastrous impact even if it gets to the battery terminal. A battery is never right after it gets wet. Months later they are fine.

This same casing can prevent water from getting in although that is not what the housing is meant to do. A battery that is only submerged halfway in saltwater can still slowly drain its charge. Get a Schumacher XM1-5 Maintainer 15-Amp which is both 6 or 12 volt usually available at Walmart. Whether your battery is maintenance free wet cell flooded AGM absorbed glass mat gel cell or VRLA valve-regulated lead acid one charger should work for all types except for gel cell.
